Sunday evening pack ripping: 1979, 1980, and 1982 Style

I thought while football is going on this evening, and with the recent 1980's wax discussion, I thought it would be fun to rip a few packs I have: (2) 1980 Topps Baseball and (1) 1982 Topps Baseball. Here are the packs before the ripping begins:

Let's see what happens: I am predicting some OC commons!

1980 Pack #1 was not too exciting to say the least. Here 5 cards I scanned. Please feel free to critique the cards.

Biff Pocoroba is the wax card. For the Red Sox fans, Dwight Evans has nice corners, but is slightly OC and is tilted. Bill Nahordny and Bob Horner are very nice. The Niekro brothers showed up together in OC form.

1980 Pack #2 contained terribly centered cards. I did get a Rickey though, well sorta:

This card was actually one of the best centered ones, although I don't think it is great.

Now onto 1982.....

The 1982 did have some star power....

But, Carew has a large wax stain. Most of the others are off centered. The Fernando HL is pretty nice though.

1979 is my favorite year, so I leave packs from that set sealed. However, I found one I had saved that had a tear in the front, on the B for baseball. Therefore, I will rip it.

The 1979 pack was uneventful, but I have no regrets since the pack was damaged. I will post a couple cards:

The Ron Reed was the nicest card in the whole pack as far as clarity, corners, and centering. The centering is off slightly. It seems that the 79's are lacking in good centering overall. For those who collect this year, do find that assessment true?

I sorta got an Ozzie (Team-picture style). However, this card has 2 large surface bubbles on the front: One over Roger Craig's head and one in the team name. It is also OC.

Nothing solid came out of this pack, but it was still fun.

sweet pack rip... i busted a 1980 cello earlier today...centering was hit and miss but possibly have 3 or 4 commons that would grade a 9...best card was a mint andre dawson....also pulled a super off centered joe morgan, the rest were commons...nothing to get too excited about but was really fun...i recorded the pack rip so it may end up on youtube soon

Believe me, my urge is now gone also. Everything else is staying safely sealed away for now.
