How can a coin with finger prints be mint state?

    Your definition of mint state having no wear would preclude a coin that has bag rubbing from ever making mint state but the market grades these as mint state all day long. In my simple mind, bag rubbing should make a coin AU because it is wear just like a finger print should keep a coin from being mint state because it was touched.

    The point of this post is that the semantics of mint state/uncirculated are very misleading. I understand that the market grades these coins a certain way but it is the wording that drives me nuts. Like someone stated earlier in the post, in my mind a mint state/uncirculated coin would only be an MS70 I guess. I really do appreciate all the comments. It has opened my eyes a little bit image
