RIP Hiroshi Yamauchi

The man who saved baseball in Seattle passed away due to complications from pneumonia, he was 85.

Story

"Yamauchi's entry into Major League Baseball changed the culture of professional baseball forever, and his connection certainly aided in bringing some outstanding players to the Mariners. Before Yamauchi purchased the team, there had been one Japanese player in MLB history."

Truly a sad day.

It is a sad day, he changed the way baseball looks at and gets international players.

As a Mariners fan (and suffering years of frustration) I hope this means the Mariners will no longer be just a business for someone, and instead will become an object of success on the field- and that means no more Chuck and Howie.

As an avid retro video gamer (especially NES/SNES) I most definitely mourn his passing. image Without both him and "Shiggy" Miyaoto none of the legendary Nintendo classics would have been possible.
