DNW auction - surprising prices

It seems I don't have a realistic view of the British Coin market based on the prices at the Dix-Noonan-Webb auction today.
I was outbid on a few lots, and the other ones I've looked at seem priced higher than I would have expected.

A different company's auction ending tomorrow is also showing some surprising bids. I had been planning some purchases, but I may just take a pass this month.

I made a few additions to my collection less than a year ago that seem relative bargains now.

Are these seemingly acute price jumps unusual, or am I just out of touch?

It's hard to stay in touch the way prices have been going the past couple of years. I look at things I bought just a couple of years ago and then what current auction prices are and it seems crazy. But when British goes wild I take a break for a while and concentrate on my German States collection.
