1962 Topps #320 Hank Aaron PSA 9 Mint on EBAY....

PSA 9 Aaron

I have had this card on my watch list and it is on the move. I am very interested to see how this monster finishes.

Low end for the grade in my opinion. The top left corner alone would have me keeping my fingers crossed for an 8.

I can see one's concern for the upper left corner. Perhaps it looks better in hand.

Either way the market for these high end vintage cards is hot and I have to think this card does well tonight.

  • I agree with nam812.

  • I've been watching it as well. The corner mentioned doesn't seem so bad. I assumed it got a 9 from the lower edge chipping. As far as saying that it "looks undergraded"...that's a stretch

    +1

The chipping on the bottom edge would be a concern for me as well. The centering is phenomenal though.

The card is definitely moving higher. Over $1,000 in the past hour.

Can't say I love the cut of the card.

That top edge looks off. One of the sides too (left in front view). Just a little, but enough...

Buy the card not the holder would apply in this case if I were an Aaron collector. Certainly not undergraded as the auction title suggests, imo.

71 watchers, 17 bidders and a double stacked bid.

    Definitely going higher.

Anything over $5,959 is a new high since August of 2008.

    Edit.

$5,801. Only one one final bid came in.

Just shy of the recent highs but over $2,000 higher then 2011 levels.

  • So it's at 97% of what it was selling at 5 years ago. What was the point of this again?

That was the point. I would have never had any pricing data on the card had Rick not posted the prior sales and I just found it interesting that the card had sold for those levels in 2008.

  • and a double stacked bid.
==> and for all those that think we are involved with shills , I saw the double bid and no I didn't find another person to jack up his bid...
I normally NEVER look , but I took a peak when I saw this thread....
he would have paid more ....

Rick I definately think you are right. His bid that won was from the 14th and his double stacked bid was from the 16th so it was a bid to win most likely.

    It's undergraded....based on a 13 scale. image

Rick, I don't think anyone (on CU at least - Net54 is another matter) has suggested you or your team is INVOLVED with shills, but rather that it often appears people shill auctions you list. The same goes for other consignment sellers in this eBay category and others... PWCC has been called out on here too.

The concern has been that consignment sellers, including yours, don't seem to even TRY to police their listings... which you pretty much confirmed saying you "normally NEVER look".

When looking at this listing did you notice the bidder with a 50% bidding history with you who submitted figures like $4499, $4999, & $5499 within minutes of one another in the closing hours? Do those bids look like someone trying to WIN an auction or run up the price for what ever reason? While they weren't the winner or even under-bidder, that isn't to say they didn't potentially skew the results.

I get that shilling can't be completely stopped. I get that eBay seems to have little interest in the problem (after all shills boost profits for sellers, consignment shops, and eBay). I get that your team can't police the number of listings they run for the competitive rates charged sellers.

But you need to get that as long as you do NOTHING aside from asking others to police your listings, that you will likely continue to receive some criticism/questions occasionally... and that some potential bidders may pass on your listings all together. It has nothing to do with thinking you are INVOLVED with the shills, but rather that shills appear often times INVOLVED at all.

    Snorto~
