The Racine Numismatic Society has received the plaque seen below from the ANA for 75 years of membership. Bill Spencer, Treasurer, (American Coin, Racine, WI) was presented with the plaque at the Chicago ANA. Our club started in 1938 and had a lot of history within numismatic community. For our 75th annual coin show we will be sponsoring Numismatics of Wisconsin (NOW). Our 75th show is going to be held at Roma Lodge in Racine, WI. Our club has dedicated the show to Racine's most famous numismatist R. S. Yeoman (also known as Mr. Red Book in numismatic circles). We will be offering a limited run of 75 over printed Red Books at out show in February (no presales).
Numismatist from as far away as Chicago would come to the club meetings back in the day. Although, we don't have the membership we did back then we continue to have an active club in which continues to carry on with an annual show. We do have long distance club members and they receive the monthly newsletter by mail.
American Coin will proudly display our plaque at his shop. If any local collectors (or long distance collectors) are ever in the area our club meets on the second Thursday from September through June at Castlewood Restaurant, 2815 Wisconsin St., Sturtevant, WI 53177. We start at 7:30 PM. All visitors are gladly welcome.
The Numismatics of Wisconsin Coin Show sponsored by The Racine Numismatic Society will be held on February 23, 2014. from 9 AM to 3 PM. The location is Roma Lodge, 7130 Spring Street (Hwy C). Racine, WI.
I am honored to be the current club president (there is a two year term limit for the president and vice president). I served as vice president in 2011, and 2012.
