Has This Happened To You?

My auction closed and was paid for. I shipped the card the next day. Buyer opened a item not received case 7 days after auction ended. I asked him to give it a few more days and he emails me and says the card has arrived. I have asked him to a couple of times to please close the case. He has not closed it. If he doesn't close it does it stay open forever? Don't understand why he won't close it.

You have to provide the delivery confirmation number to Paypal and then they will close it.

Bingo, those are the magic words. What I found, is that some buyers will randomly buy something and if there is no tracking number, then they never have to prove that they did or didn't receive the item. They open a case and win, getting their money back and the item too.

I always ship with tracking number now.

    Later, Paul.
  • Just ship w/ paypal from now on. With delivery confirmation its still cheaper than going to the Post office.

  • Just send a message through the dispute page. At that point the buyer will have to either close it or do nothing at which point the case will expire and you're money will be free'd up if it was even held in the first place
    It never leaves you...

Here is a link to a discussion a few weeks ago about USPS tracking (or delivery confirmation).

How was it shipped and how did you apply postage to the item? If it was a 1st class mail parcel package and you took it to the post office to have them weigh and put postage on it for you then check your receipt. I'm finding that at the 1st class mail parcel level that regardless if you pay them the 90 cents to put a USPS tracking tag on it, or tell them you want no tracking, they still put a USPS tracking tag on the package. The receipt will have the tracking number on it and when you enter it on the USPS site for tracking you get the same info as if you would have paid them the 90 cents. If it just went at the letter rate level then you wouldn't have any tracking.

"he emails me and says the card has arrived"

Whit this you should be good. In my early eBay days I shipped without tracking and has this problem. Customer support has told me that as long as the buyer claims to receive the item in a PM or leaves feedback they will not win a item not received case even with no tracking.

I am not sure how it works with EBAY but if the case is opened through PayPal feedback is not taken into consideration.
