Definitely not. Part of the premium is that there might be a key card on the top of a pack. These could be packs from other boxes and I highly suspect the bottom row has been searched even if it's the original packs.

The box may be clearly authentic, and there is a pack with Yount on top, and it may not be straight from a sealed case anyway, but I would not use a BBCE sticker as a selling point unless it were still affixed to the shrinkwrap. Once that shrinkwrap comes off, that claim is gone. I am debating myself whether to "open" the '83 cello box we just bought in the group rip sealed from a case--there is definitely a premium imo if the box is shrinkwrapped by BBCE.

Who's to say the cellos weren't looked through for stars on top and then shrinkwrapped by BBCE?

Well, we know from experience that Steve does not cherrypick his boxes, as people have gotten cellos with Ripken RC and Montana RC (among others) showing on cellos in their boxes in the past, so I would highly doubt that. That's not to say it wasn't cherrypicked before it was sold to or acquired by Steve--there really is no way to know with absolute certainty if a cello (or wax or rack) box is intact in its original state unless the box came straight from a sealed case. But since sealed cases of unopened product from this era are extremely scarce, collectors have made allowances for that for the most part.

Just thinking about this - seller did themselves no favors on both other fronts - gives up premium by breaking BBCE seal, maybe pulled one or two packs with stars showing - then sells. Unopened collectors won't pay that price for the box and rippers certainly won't given how tightly packs are wrapped - tough to get anything above an 8.
Would steve normaly just write " 1980 Topps BB """CELLO""" "
He wouldnt put Cello Box?
COuldnt someone just buy 1 pack and as for a quarantee that the pack is from you and then place it with a full box? I would think thats how you would fill out that card is someone bought just one pack and not a box.?

You generally do not get that card with pack purchases. I have only seen them with full box purchases.

Looking at the top and bottom of the packs is far different than the meaning I associate with searched (opened and resealed). Unless it is from a sealed case, there is a high likelihood that the boxes have been opened and examined for stars on front/back. Whether is came from BBCE or anywhere else.

Absolutely. I am not saying Steve would do that because he would not. Just saying whoever had it sealed by BBCE or sold it to BBCE originally may or may not have searched through the box for stars. There is really no way of knowing whether the seal is broken or not. Regardless, I agree wholeheartedly that breaking the seal was not smart to get top dollar

Not sure if it deserves a price premium, however , as a buyer id choose this box over a random Thinking that even if no chane of star packs, the rest are pretty definitely all authentic atleAst. Unless of course we see a rash of fake bbce guarantees and stuff. Who h would be an ugly day
