Ordering Half Dollar & Dollar Coins from Banks - Anyone else having trouble?

Bank of America shot me down - can't order them anymore.
another small, local bank that ordered me $1000 half dollars before just told me they can't order half dollars nor dollars anymore.
anyone else having similar troubles?
any banks to be named that can still order them?

<< <i>No problems here. I know it's tougher to order halves in areas without competition... by contrast, there has to be two dozen different banks within 30 miles of my house. My problem is they don't want me using their coin machines to cash it in. >>
Any national or large regional bank names you can name?
One bank wanted to charge 25% for change. Needless to say I don't go there anymore.

<< <i>I know several banks that will order halves and small-sized dollar coins here in the Northeast. I've tried ordering large-sized dollars but unfortunately, I haven't found anyone who could do it. >>
do you feel comfortable naming the banks?

PM me with your location and I'll do my best.
A lot of the time it is who you know in the financial institution and what they are willing to do for you - it pays to make friends in high places as I have found out.

This is very important. If possible, try to go to a location enough times and get friendly with the tellers/staff. No guarantees but oftentimes, the better a bank knows you, the more likely they'll be willing to bend over backwards for you.
<< <i>I am starting to run into difficulties even getting cents and nickels from banks without paying 5% now because the companies like Brinks, Garda etc have dramatically increased the costs of rolled coins that they sell to banks. Right now I get most of my rolled coins from several different credit unions and filter them back out through other credit unions and largely sidestep using commercial banks for coins.

I'm trying. the local CUs near me are small. They told me they rarely even order coin for themselves.
I asked the vault manager at a Federal Reserve bank what they thought of dollar coins and almost got spit on. All of their coin vault storage is jammed with them, think three Walmarts side-by-side jammed floor to ceiling with dollar coins...and that's just one of the banks.

One of my credit unions is a three branch outfit that doesn't order coin but ends up with a lot of customer wrapped rolls from merchants that bank there - which is a source of fresh material for me to go through. Just yesterday went through only $40 in nickels but ended up with a worn out Buffer and two silver war nickels.
