USPS -- Why must you suck?

So, I won an auction on ebay for a couple packs of '79 Topps BB. I live in Toledo, Ohio... the shipper lives in the 'burbs of Detroit. Roughly an hour away from me. USPS received the shipping details last Monday (8/26/13). They depart the facility on Tuesday...and then... nothing. 4 days later (8/31/13) the packs arrive in Philadelphia (?!?!). Today, it states they have been received in Toledo, so I should get them tomorrow. It took USPS 8 days to deliver a 1/2 pound package to something an hour away. C'mon man.

they are quite the rascals. i've had stuff rerouted to various cities which contain a word similar to the one where i live. some packages deserved frequent flyer miles.

Few weeks ago I shot off some cards to Maryland (I'm in TX), and two days after I let it go the natural progression took it to............Cataño, Puerto Rico.

All good. I don't lose sleep until a package is processed thru the sort facility in the Northern Mariana Islands.

Our local post office will literally have a line out the door and only 2 people working the counter. While 16th in line you suddenly hear those dreaded words from one of the counter folks, "I'm going on break"
    UNBELIEVABLE !
If they really cared about doing the right thing, perhaps they wouldn't be losing money and cutting Saturday delivery.

  • I think the amusing part is that on the same night I also won an auction where the seller is from San Francisco... it took 2 days to get that package to me.
  • I feel your pain. I sent a package from here in Minnesota to Orlinda CA. Now here's how the post office works. Went to San Ramon for delivery. 10 miles away, not a suburb of Orlinda. No person here by that name. Back to sort in Oakland, back out to San Ramon for a second time to see if maybe the person in question has happen to move into town. Nope, no person by that name here again. Back to Oakland for a second time to sort. Oh wait a minute the post office worker enter the wrong zip code for the tracking information. Long story short not the post offices finest hour.

Packages from the coast always seem to arrive quicker. I am in NY and packages from CA reach me in 2 days usually. The PO has their share of faults, but for the cost, they are by far the best game in town. Even though it may take a while in some cases, they very rarely actually lose a package.

    That's what he said.
  • West coast packages travel via air to the east coast as opposed to ground which is why...say, ohio to florida would take 4 days
    It never leaves you...

The trick I have found is to show up at the Post office 10 minutes before they Close. You will see some quick action when you start
to dig into there time image

Same thing works for those long return lines at places like Fry’s Electronics or even the DMV once they start working on there own time
they somehow become so much more efficient and those lines really start to move

One time I send something to PSA and when I checked the usps tracking it was out to delivery in my city. I was like what? They read the to and from addresses wrong. They did eventual figure it out and did get it to psa on time. haha
