I dont see it as a 10...more of a 9.5...if you're gonna call it 'Gem Mint' then that black border better be flawless. From those pics it looks like slight chipping
In the most recent SMR there was an advertisement for an auction house with a 1986 Topps Ryne Sandberg PSA 10 pictured and the price was something crazy like $2,400+.
I did a population search and there are three. If this is a pop 1 it has to go for huge money.

Open enough of those boxes, and you'll know how tough it is! LOL

Thanks for the link, Tom - I'm interested to watch this auction. I busted two cases of '86 OPC and the best I Sandberg I pulled was a PSA 8. The Nolan Ryan is also very difficult.

OPC borders get a little more leeway than Topps. I sort of don't agree with this because a 10 should be a 10 no matter what company produced it but then if allowances weren't made, there would be very few OPC 10's.
Never surpirsed when I see a card like this being sold by Probstein or Prewar Card. I personally love the card but I am tired of seeing the stuff going on with these guys per 54 Network threads.

Looking for high grade rookie cards and unopened boxes/cases
86 is tough in general. There is a thread on the registry forum and a few of the guys are going after the entire set in 9's. Tough grade no matter the player.
Can someone explain why this is a 10? Did OPC try and have terrible edges and diamond cut the cards? I wouldn't not have thought to submit this card for grading at all and here it is as a pop 1 psa 10.

Great description on their part in that auction.
