PSA recognizes that many of the members on this message board are highly knowledgeable and experienced in identifying trading cards, tickets and packs. As a result, PSA has decided to alert the forum, first and foremost, about a unique employment opportunity.
PSA, which is located in southern California, has a new opening for a full-time, on-site Research Specialist: a position that requires the identification and classification of sports cards, non-sports cards, tickets and packs.
Below is quick summary of the essential duties associated with the position and the required qualifications:
Responsibilities:
• Identify trading cards and their varieties.
• Identify tickets and packs.
• Conduct research by means of catalogues, trade magazines, books and Internet.
• Communicate clearly and efficiently with other employees, managers and divisions (such as PSA/DNA, Ticket Authentication Pack Authentication).
• Communicate clearly and intelligently with associates from major companies in the trade and card manufacturers.
• Communicate with customers as needed.
• Attend trade shows approximately two to three times per year.
• Maintain and update the database on a daily basis.
• The majority of the time will be spent seated at a desk working on a computer.
• Will occasionally need to collect trays of cards varying from 5-20 pounds each.
• Must be willing to assist in basic processing duties such as applying stickers on occasion.
• Required to work full-time, on-site at the PSA main office located in southern California.
Qualifications:
• Experience within the industry and knowledge of all types of trading cards (sports and non-sports), tickets and packs.
• Read and understand a variety of periodicals pertaining to the trading card industry.
• Capable of performing research on the web and through other methods.
• Must be able to give the year, manufacturer and name and/or description of the item to be graded.
• Proper communication skills are necessary due to direct contact with customers and associates from major companies within the trade.
• Must be able to communicate clearly with other employees and managers via email and in-person.
• Knowledge of Word, Excel, 10 key and general computer software is a must.
