When to or not to grade

I have been following the boad for a couple of months and have been amazed at the knowledge of the members. I am new to grading and wanted to know when you should grade or not grade cards or unopened packages. Any help would be appreciated

Thanks
Chris

  • If the increased value of the assigned grade increases the value of the card more than grading fees, the card graded. If having the card graded does not increase its value more than the fees, the card should not graded

Those values are usually based on dollars, but sometimes based on personal reasons
  • Agree with NV's e economics. Also consider if you are looking to sell online transactions are smoother (generally) with slabbed cards and certainly easier via consignment.

Condition - you need to be as sure as possible that your assessment of condition warrants grading.

One touch hard cases are a nice alternative if you want to keep the card well protected for under 3 bucks.

You can also grade for your personal collection. It's not all about resale!
