a $70 dan marino gu for 3 kobe rcs worth $57 that i could go to ebay and get gradable ones for $15-$20, and it would cost me $30 for the gu? what?
  • That`s ridiculous, I`d pass on that one.
  • 1. Rookies ALWAYS have more growth potential then GU.
    2. Gradable rookies have several times the growth potential.

If the Kobe's are mint, I'd do it in a heartbeat. When's the last time you saw a GU suddenly spike in price?

ya i understand that they have chance of going up, but the kobes wont skyrocket, they are already up high. as for mint ones, all i gotta do is search ebay a little bit and find ones that are in nice condition and have scan and buy them. i can easily get the 3 on ebay for $20 or less in good condition. i dont see too many marino gu's going for much under 50%

if you see the cards up close before you trade and if they have ANY shot at a psa 10 or bgs 9.5 and you do not make that trade then you're nuts. Scans can trick you.

  • jbugs, are you more interested in which cards you can sell now for ythe most money, or which you can hold onto?

Barring some sort of major market shift, that Marino will still be in the $70 range 10 years from now. That is, of course, unless companies just make more and more, in which case that bouble may burst and it'll go way down.
In 10 years, you will still be abale to find a buyer for nice raw or graded Kobe rookies - almost certainly at higher prices than now.

And Hondo, coming from you, that is high praise image Thank you.
  • jbugs, you seem like you've already convinced yourself.

im not trading up close, its over the internet, and the guy says they are in nrmt or mint condition. but there is no gurantees. over the internet u have no real way of knowing how good or acurate people are on their grading
  • jbugsjbugs Posts: 1,708
i see ur guys point, but in the fact of trading or buying for stuff i want, id just go on ebay or to somebody i know and get the kobes, i wouldnt make this trade unless they were graded, or guaranteed to have good grade.
  • jbugs, like I said, you seem to have already convinced yourself, so why ask us?
  • jbugsjbugs Posts: 1,708
how do i seem like im already convinced?? heh, ur nutz, i have no clue yet whether im gonna make the trade or not. u guys are giving me 1 way to look at it, thx for that, but i dunno if i wanna spend $30 on the marino, or go buy the kobes on ebay and get them there. of course im gonna go for the better deal, it just depends on which ends up as the better deal.
  • Dude. Make him send first so that you can take a look ta the cards. Then you send. Eh, might work.

Game used is going no where, it will be worthless in a year or two, Rookies is the way to go

  • yeah, rookies have the best growth potential, but i happen to like autos better. and gu'ed probably will be worthless soon, at least the easy ones to pull. the rarer ones will still be worth something.

There are some solid GU'ed out there, but nice rookies will always be in high demand. The problem with GU'ed is that they are openning up the gates on it. First, everything was "game used jerseys". Now you see game used uniform. Well, that means the piece can be from ANY part of the uniform (jersey, shirt, pants, socks, or anything else that was team issued). In the lone run, I think the only GU'ed that will hold it's value is patches. Other than that, rookies is the only way to go.
