A new crop of fake "Engelhard" marked bars are appearing on ebay.

They are the highly desirable 100 gram silver bars. They are apparently correct in terms of silver content. The scam is related to their collector value.

Expect other rare types to be faked as well.

I can't say for sure, but this seller is well known for selling fakes. I even bought one from him that I thought was real. Long story behind it, but thankfully I was able to get a full refund. I wont speak for OGIM, but it is probably this one.
100 gram Engelhard probably FAKE!
Nice blurry pics from weird angles to distort the way things line up on the bar.

It could be these too, but I can't say as I dont know enough about them to distinguish a difference.

Here's the rub. Those manufacturing the bars don't only sell fakes. Genuine bars are interspersed in their offerings as well.

I dont feel it's a parody. Put $10k on the bar, not $1k then. Someone might pay $1k for that bar, if it was real.

Also, if he wanted to warn others, he should say it's a warning and do not bid on this auction. Why is his "suggestion" way down at the bottom of the description? This is not a parody imo. If it is, it needs to be worded a hell of a lot better.

ok, I see it now. I still think a more crazier number should be put on it though to ensure no one actually buying it.

Here's a good opportunity to learn something courtesy the Engelhard Police Posse

Look at this 5 oz bar this member of the Engelhard Police Posse (I'm going to call them the EPP from now on) has up on eBay.

Look how large the 5 is on the weight of the bar, not to mention just the overall appearance of the bar.


Now look at an example I own. Sure the 5 is larger, but not giant like the one in the fake bar. Kind of scary huh. Proving that even collectors of old pour 5 oz Engelhards are obviously being targetted in the Great Silver Scam of 2013. I'm going to list mine on eBay and mention the other auction, even though we know it is a parody to the kind of bars taos5djl has been listing just to prove a point.

It appears that eBay has taken down EPP member, celestial_tequila auctions bringing attention to taos5djl being a seller of fakes.
eBay takes down warnings and allows the seller of fake bars to thrive.
