Comparing Manziel to the Olsen twins is so far off topic. Growing up in a Curtis Enis era where accepting a minor gift and lying about it gets you kicked off the team, I hope Manziel gets suspended for the year.
  • The issue is really complicated. You have a college that is paying for a full ride scholarship, room and board, etc. to go to the college. Playing football is a full time job for the players with class work taking up the vast majority of it. So how does a player earn spending money for their free time? Let's face it, there is one Heisman trophy winner selected every year. They are some of the few that can earn money signing autographs........it's not allowed but as the article states, the colleges are raking in millions!..it's a fracked up situation!

What are the rules if he signed say 1,000 autographs and gave them to his father who then sold all of them on ebay?
Then his parents like Im sure other parents do then gave Johnny an allowance? Is that breaking the rules?

There has to be wording in the NCAA rule book that makes this against the rules as well. I know a few players and their families who have played NCAA hockey. The rules that players and families have to abide by can seem ridiculous. I remember one time they were visiting the school and attended a game. After the game the team had a buffet dinner. The parents were invited but only if they agreed to bring a bag of chips and place it at the end of the buffet. That eliminated the dinner being viewed as an illegal benefit to the player's family.
