Help with shipping graded cards

For shipping graded cards is carboard taped to it on both front and back good and then ship in bubble mailer , or wrapping the slab in bubble wrap and then in bubble mailer?? Which way is least likely for slab to get damaged? I tried to ship it with both the cardboard and bubble wrap but made the package over the .8 inch limit so I need to know which of the ways on their own is better. Either way I ship with a graded team bag over the slab. Also, with the cardboard way, is it possible for the sides to get cracked as they are still exposed?

Also, when buyers from U.S buy pricier sportscards..(from Canadian sellers) say $100+ does the U.S. buyer have to pay any kind of taxes/duties/charges when they receive the card (if the true value is put). Typically what does the Canadian seller put on the customs forms?? Im trying to sell sportscards in North America (Im Canadian) and I don't want my American friends to have to pay any unneccesary expenses. I know I have purchased cards from U.S. seller and they have put the true value of the cards and I have been hit with some huge "at the door" surprises with customs fees. Trying to help others avoid this.

Thanks in advance!

USA buyers from Canadian sellers don't have to pay any customs, duties, or taxes on their purchases.

I've found a good way to package graded cards is to use cardboard on one side, then a 12"x12" piece of
bubble wrap around both, then place it inside a larger bubble mailer. It will weigh less than 3 oz. and
I've shipped thousands of graded cards that way and never had one damaged in transit.

Another way is the mail in a 400ct box with peanut. It will weigh less than 5oz and fully protected.
You can buy bulk 400ct boxes for less than .50 cents each. Cost of mailing is less than $3, at least
    within the USA.
