PSA Set Registry team sets

Hey everyone. Does anyone know why PSA only allows Topps and Bowman for current team sets for the registry? I thought I remembered a thread on this awhile ago but couldn't find it with the search engine. Theres lots of sets out there including early Donruss and Fleer from the early 1980's that are very hard to find in high grade. It's not like you can just pull up ebay and find the whole team in PSA 10's. Just wondering if it was PSA not allowing it or maybe not enough interest yet from collectors. Thanks guys.

I've complained about this for years. I think its more about what the staff at PSA has time to do, as opposed to a lack of interest from collectors. They have other priorities and are already busy.

Interesting take on that question. Last time I checked, shouldn't their paying customers be the priority? It can't be that difficult to add requests to the registry. I have requested team sets to be added before - even sent them the card #'s & player info - it took a few weeks, but they were eventually added - granted they were topps sets.

I think it has something to do with the free gradings. I requested some team sets a couple of years ago that were outide the norm, and I was turned down. They were hockey team sets from a year when there were no OPC or Topps cards produced, but they still said "no" despite my efforts. Oh well.

Paying customers should be the priority and if enough collectors are pushing for new team sets to be added, they should really consider adding them. I know for me personally, when I first started playing the registry game about a year and a half ago, I started with 1980 Topps baseball only for sentimental reasons. Keep in my mind that I collect raw also, but I like graded cards just the same so I do that too. I logged my cards in a couple of months back and I'm at 61% completion for the 80 set, but when I went to the add set page, I couldn't believe the different sets I qualified for based on my 1980 Topps set being 61% complete. Having each team set broken down, as well as HOF sets etc has given me a newfound focus and direction on collecting this set. Knowing that I need say 1 card to complete the 1980 Topps Milwaukee Brewers Team set makes me want to get that 1 card to get that one out of the way. You get the point. I have many raw sets of Donruss and Fleer from the 1980's that I haven't looked through yet, and if I ever decide to start a registry set of these super-tough issues, it would be nice to have that same kind of direction when building those sets. I hope I'm making some kind of sense. Thanks
