1978 Topps Basketball Thread ???

There was a recent thread going on this auction -

eBay Auction

1. I can't find the thread any longer.

2. Any ideas on bidders with feedbacks of 26 and 88 bidding so high? Do the big money guys mask their bids with a separate eBay ID?

Comments

  • That was my thread (and set). I changed the title to reflect what I am currently selling on the boards.

I am not sure about your other question. I also don't get the betting patterns of pwcc followers, all I know is that they bid frequently.

Thanks Shooty. I was following the auction as I am sort of working on that set. Would have put in better bid but just have too many other things I'm working on. I think you got a decent price given the market today although I'm sure it could have been better as well. The low feedback bidders tend to scare me off, especially for something that I'm only partly interested in. From my perspective, primarily as a buyer, I think these auction companies should exclude bidders with less than 1,000 feedback. I really think you would get better bids. Anyway, good luck your sales. - Kevin M.
  • It ended up doing better than I expected and hopefully set a benchmark for this set. I put it together pretty cheaply by buying some big lots and downgrading some more expensive cards.

Sounds good. Yes, that's a good way to build these sets. Below is an auction that I did win from dslsports out in Irvine -

This strikes me as more typical with all serious bids from people with excess of 1,000 feedback. The low feedback people, either new to eBay or casual collectors. bid at the lower end but not the higher end. - Kevin M.
