Price Lowered! FSH 1960 Large Date Lincoln Cent on Silver Dime Planchet ex-NGC Details holder

I purchased this raw on eBay a few months ago, and in the process of researching prices I found that the same coin was sold by Heritage in January of this year in an NGC details holder. The eBay seller believed the clip to be of Mint origin, so he cracked the coin out of the "Mint Error AU Details Damaged" holder. I examined the coin carefully and agree with NGC that the edge was cut after the coin was minted, probably in a rudimentary attempt to authenticate the error.

I'd always wanted a silver cent and honestly, now that I have one, it doesn't fit in at all with my collection, so off it goes. In January, in the NGC holder, this coin sold for just over $350; I was able to buy it well back of that price when it was sold raw. I'm offering the coin now as-is for was $299 now $275. PayPal preferred, 14 day no questions asked return, references available upon request. image

Cool coin. A worthwhile investment for someone, IMO.

TTT Tuesday. I guess everyone left their money at Rosemont? I'll listen to reasonable offers, even though I think this already a decent deal.

Wouldn't EBay be your friend for something like this?

As I'd venture a guess that you'd get close to the original $350 there without giving it away here?

I hear your point, but on eBay I think the coin would have to be certified again to get there, even with the auction history I think people would question the authenticity of it raw. Here I figured my reputation would stand in for recertification.

No worries either way, really, if nobody bites in the next day or two, I'll tuck it away in the safe until I feel like thinning out the herd again.

A silver coin that I have never had. Did it circulate have the edge was cut off?

I believe someone cut it to test if it was plated. The person who owned it after the Heritage sale referenced above cracked it out of the holder because he believed it wa a clipped planchet (that's how I ended up finding it, the coin popped up in my eBay searches). He was wrong, it was definitely altered post Mint.

If anyone is interested in this coin now, I'll still take $275 postpaid for it.
