"Slight damage"... weren't some of these 55 Bowmans the ones which were severely water stained?

From the ad: "Your chance to turn back the clock has come."

Boy, if only I could turn back the clock to when Rosen said we could turn back the clock, LOL!!

Edit: I see Rosen had a "mobile phone" back then. I can't recall, but how common were cell phones back then? Or is he referring to the antiquated "car phone"?

Whatever happened to Mr. Mint? Is he out of the card business?

    Thanks,

Al, I had a mobile phone then, one of the first. Was the size of a backpack and cost 200. a month plus .75 a minute. Reception was pretty good since there was no one on it. Stock market had crashed 2 months before so everything was a bit dicey, but if I knew then what I know now I'd buy up everything he had along with APL stock!

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

I called him as soon as I saw the ad and all the baseball boxes were already sold. I did get the bowman FB 5 cent box and individual packs of the baseball.

That is a great piece of history right there, Jim. I wonder how many members on this board, if any, remember calling in response to that ad.

I missed the boat on this one.

Thanks for the post. Brings back memories.

  • Someone should find some Mark Murphy ads from the early 90's. The prices would make you sick.

Does anyone remember Rosen's yellow auction inserts in SCD? LOL, about 50 or 75% of the stuff was labeled "gem mint", or mint. I wonder how many of those ended up in PSA 9 or 10 holders.

I remember seeing that ad in SCD. I'm sure I skipped right past it searching for Donruss Mike Greenwell RCs

In that same issue, you could find 86 Fleer basketball boxes for less than $10/box

If he can sell it that fast for an advertised 33000 the next one should be at least 37000. Almost makes you want to sell. Almost
