Streaming Baseball content on Netflix

I saw "Knuclkeball!" on the list of streaming Netflix movies, so I watched it last night.

Pretty good stuff. It was a documentary that focused on Dickey and Wakefield, their careers, and how they became knuclkers. Seems like they wrapped up the filming in spring training of 2012, so they didn't capture the fact that Dickey won the NL Cy Young Award that year.

I had no idea that Wakefield was originally drafted as a hitter.

"Talking Baseball with Ed Randall" is also an interesting watch. It's old interviews with ball players from around 25 years ago or so.


And of course, there's also the legendary "Ken Burns: Baseball" series and some of the ESPN 30 for 30 stuff.

I caught some of that on Showtime....I didn't realize that Dickey was missing a ligament in his elbow until watching that.

I think the Ken Burns series is pretty overrated. It's incredible up through about the 1930s and then drops off quickly after that. That said, those early episodes are simply must-see.

30 For 30: Little Big Men - The 1981 Kirkland (WA) Little League champs. Awesome story and a great documentary.

Up For Grabs - The legal wrangling surrounding Barry Bonds' record-setting HR ball. Haven't seen it.

30 For 30: Catching Hell - the Bartman/Cubs story. Incredible documentary.
