NESC sets/lots

Has anyone purchased a set or a large lot from New England Sports Cards?

Would you say the quality is fair for the price they charge? I'm especially interested if the centering is decent throughout the groups of the cards.

Again, I'm not expecting NMMT cards for an EXMT price; but I don't want the converse, either.

you'll get pack/set fresh cards that wouldn't/didn't make it into a PSA 9 slab

NESC is the 4 Sharp Corner's clearing house for raw cards they feel won't grade well enough to turn a profit.

There are a number of threads on here talking about people's experiences with NESC and, if I recall correctly, they were largely positive with some feeling they over graded a bit.

That couldn't make it into a psa 9 slab is right.
But they advertize as mint.

I call it leftover slop

Not once did cards match description.

Buy at nmt to nm-mt.....and if price is ok then you will be happy

I have had good luck with them. I've bought 10-15 card lots of Topps Bonds rookies,Maddux, McGwire. Basically newer stuff. I buy their mint stuff and usually its nice NM-NMMT. The pricing is good. I like raw cards so I don't need a PSA 9 Bonds or McGwire card.

If centering matters to you pass. Their lots are primarily sharp o/c with some centered with touches. I've bought a number of them and know what I am getting going in.

Majority of cards will be sharp, but OC.

Bought some lots to use for TTM projects and was pleased. Also bought some singles to work on raw team sets and was pleased as well. If you know what to expect going in that's half the battle.

Thanks! Responses were right on...I got a pile of sharp, "mint" cards, but, as Larry Fritsch says, "some cutting flaws do exist."

I have made a handful of purchases from NESC.

I submitted maybe about 6 to PSA. My results were:

5 PSA 9 Mint
1 PSA 10 Gem Mint

The cards were 1984 Donruss, 1985 Topps, Mid 90's Select, Finest, etc.

All were for my PC. I do not go this route anymore, as I try for all 10's, but there are Mint condition raw singles to be had there.

You have to be VERY careful and picky. You need to stare at the computer monitor for a long time.

I agree with others, MINT in the listing should be the only one's you look at and expect NM-NMMT with centering being the biggest issue. Any of the listings that do not say MINT in the title, expect EXMT at best (usually edge chipping, one corner dinged, etc.).

There are definitely deals to be had with NESC, you just have to know how to look for them. They provide good enough scans on their singles that you should know what you're getting. They have great deals on their lots too. Just keep in mind that these are the cards that 4SC doesn't feel are worth grading.

I bought a few lots of 70's hockey singles to build raw sets and am very happy. Pack fresh cards, where most sellers are selling you cards that have been loose for 25 years.

Just got two sets in the mail today. 1978 and 1981 Topps baseball. Said NMMT. Far from it, will be sending them back.
