Hi, I'm new, and I have poppage

Hi,

My name is Dan and I've been reading these boards for about a year now. I have really enjoyed reading the various threads on this board, and I have learned a lot over that time. The reason I decided to post now is I am excited about the results of my submission and I do not know many people where I live that would care. So, I thought I would share my results with all of you. This was my second submission to PSA. I used my free vouchers in my first submission.

When I was in high school and college I submitted a few cards to BGS, and I never received a Gem Mint grade on any of the cards. So, these are the first Gem Mint grades I have ever received from a submission. Anyway, enough about me and here are my results.

    Hi Dan, welcome aboard.

Your results are incredible. Those '81's as you may have read on here are very difficult in high grade. Have you had these stored for years, or did you buy and rip recently? Either way, great eye on those cards. You should make out very well if you decide to sell them.

Hope to see you around frequently. Tom

    Welcome to the boards!

    CONGRATS on the grades.

Ive only submitted cards to BGS and have only received four GEM MINT 9.5s. Tough to get.

    image to the boards Dan!!!

Those are some awesome results as everyone commented that '81's are tough to get 10's on. Thanks for the intro and looking forward to your future posts.

  • Dang, nice sub on the 81's. Quite a few Gem HOF's in that group!Welcome to the boards!
  • Thanks everyone for the welcome messages. I had low expectations after what I've read about the '81 cards on the forums, and I was pleasantly surprised with the results. The cards all came from vending boxes that I purchased from BBCE except for the Don Sutton card. I bought the Don Sutton card on eBay.

Awesome sub, congrats! Especially so as card stock for this issue is notoriously soft and prone to printing issues. This set is a super tough one but you made it look easy!

If you don't mind sharing how many vending boxes you opened up I would appreciate it. The reason that I ask is because I just got done opening a case with a business partner of mine and we have been going through the cards pulling those that could grade out a PSA 10. We have found that the cards were very tough to find without dinged corners/print issues/centering problems. I think you did very well and hope I land some with my case.

I do not mind sharing, I pulled the cards from 7 vending boxes. Some boxes were better than others, but there were plenty of cards with the issues you mentioned.
