BBCE at the National (Class Act)

I have been out of collecting for over a decade and have been enjoying getting back into it over the last few months by submitting some goodies to PSA and Beckett at the National. I have to say I was so incredibly impressed with Steve and the his staff at the BBCE at the National that my enjoyment in this hobby I started when I was 5 has totally been reenergized to the point where I'm back in full throttle.

So Friday morning I was unhappy with a grade on my 1958 PSA 6 Nellie Fox that I got at the show, and although it looks great to the eye (perfect centering, color, corners, etc.), they took the time to look it over for me. They thought 8 possibly 8.5 but maybe saw a very minor surface scratch that could have put it into the 6 range. I did get some nice 8.5's but that's for another blog image.

I picked up a very clean box of 1984 topps football wax (no x out) and one of the 1975 topps cello's from their sealed case. They take their time and make you feel comfortable about your purchase. Couldn't be happier, and for that I'd gladly pay a premium.

Of course there will always be bad collectors/dealers trying to cheat the system and even steal from what I've been hearing, so I want to thank Steve and the Baseball Card Exchange for being on the other side, the side I enjoy. The side that reminds me of what I collected as a child and how wonderful it was to go to the store for a pack of cards...I always bought the cello's as it was great to complete the sets eaiser by seeing who was on top. Cracks me up I'd pass up a Payton because I already had him...haha.

Anyway, Steve and BBCE thank you.

  • Nice post. Steve and gang are great group. Didn't get to national bit all my transactions have been great.
But your post won't get you a discount on the 81 T FB 3 box rack case image
  • Welcome to the boards and a thumbs up on a couple great purchases. I haven't had a chance to meet them in person but they've been great over the phone and through email. Heck, they even helped me purchase a 1975 Topps Cello box on eBay about 6 years ago. It was clean as heck and Steve didn't see anything in the pictures that concerned him. Nonethless, I bought it for $1800 and still have half the box left. haha.

I think most of us on the boards know Steve & his team. I have had the fortunate pleasure of knowing Steve for a few years, and have had him and his father to my house. When you meet Steve's dad, the old saying, the acorn doesn't fall far from the tree", certainly applies. Steve is a true ambassador to the hobby. My collection certainly be what it is if it wasn't for BBCE as well as many of the great members on the board.
