I can't believe no one has been talking about this. It has already hit in retail and hobby hits tomorrow. Is anyone collecting this stuff this year? I have made some great
trades over the years here. Lets get ripping and trading!

In the name of cost savings, I'll only be buying Frank Thomas singles this year. I haven't built the set in 3 seasons now...I miss it, but it's better this way.

I bought one hobby box today just to check it out. I like it better than the previous 2 years as far as card design. The black mini's are very sharp. I am still trying to clean up 2008 and 2009 sets I just haven't had the heart to get in the past 2 years. This year might be different.

I guess some of the HUGE Rip Card collectors are boycotting the Rips this year due to the addition of the Double Rips. I saw a Ripken /10 sell for less than $200 within 36 hours of release. The last couple of years that's $300-$500 easy.

In addition to these got a Puig Mini. 2 All In a Days Work (Policeman and Fireman) 2 People in Bicycles and 4 or 5 NNO's (These are A&G Backs this year)

These were from a Group Break on Blowout

OK.....not a life altering break but not a horrible break either.

14 (3 red) autos in 24 boxes.

I will double check the order of hits before shipping. I did not scan the NNO's but we got like 4 or 5 in the 2 cases. I will add those pics when I sort.

Case 1. 36 hits. No Rip card. Will be contacting Topps Boxes 1 Top, 2 Middle, 3 Bottom

I tried to look into 5 tops I have ready to recycle.

There were no pockets there as they were glued together.

Is it possible that Ginter hid cards in the box lids in prior years as well? The construction of the boxes this year is no different than past years. Given that Topps never announced that these cards were in lids, I think its a least a possibility that they were issued previously and that no one found them.

Extremely possible but I would that at some point since 2006 somebody would have stumbled upon them.

Agreed... I'd love to see a few of the Reds players make an EBay appearance too, but have the same concern.

Nice hit on the hidden lid 1/1.

I checked the lids on all my 08 and 10 boxes in the closet last night and didn't find anything. I'd really like to hear that these cards were in Ginter lids the whole time and no one knew. That would be sweet. Haven't heard of any pre '13 finds yet.

I've been hearing that they are pretty rare so many people who did throw the boxes probably didn't have one, by the odds. Someone speculated that it might be a ploy by Topps against those who open boxes earlier than the release date as Topps did tweet cryptically on the scheduled go live date.

There have been zero Blue ink autos on Ebay and I have only seen 2 in breaks so far.

Thanks to this thread we started checking the box lids for 1/1s. We pulled the 1 of 1 Penny Marshall! There's no crying in baseball cards!
