Was this SGC case a little to frosted?

1979 Gretzky

This card ended tonight at 1600.00

I noticed I have never seen edges like this on a legit graded 1979 OPC Gretzky. Now I double checked the listing and the case is completly frosted in my opinion.
What are yalls thoughts on this card/case/sale.

To me it looks like they left the bottom portion of the case still origanly sealed but pried open the top part and inserted a new card( which is trimmed).
YOu can even see the knife marks on the black part of the SGC case on the back scan on the top edge

  • I agree. Card definitely looks trimmed. Lousy trim job as well.

Not only do I think that case has been cracked, but I think that Gretzky is a fake. Yes, it has the print spot on the left shoulder BUT it is not an accurate print dot like on the original. That one is a bit on the orange side and also larger than it should be. As well, the edges are extremely sharp and that makes me weary.

I am no expert on fake Gretzky rookies but I would not trust it.

Something's definitely amiss. The edges are completely smooth, the yellow dot is wrong, and the case very much appears to have been cracked open.

Your right. I didnt think about the dots. But yeah I now think it is just a fake card put in this case now.

Agree 110%. First thought was sheet cut as the edges are completely wrong, but the case is a mess and a fake makes more sense. A sheet cut would just go to BGS and get slabbed, no need for the cloak and dagger.

    So what happens now?
This card sold for 1625.00 do we hope the buyer knows he bought a reprint in a SGC holder? I dont think he does because he bid 1625.00 for this card.
Should we contact the seller or buyer?

Print dot is a dead give away that it's a reprint.
