Poppage during National!

Not sure if this is any indicator, but I got poppage last night even as lines grew around the PSA booth at the National.

Definitely hoped for better on some but there are some I am real happy with. The Hendu rookies came from the 1980 vending rip I posted previously.

And, uh, the mediocre 70 Staub and Wills came from the 1970 cello rip I posted a couple weeks ago.

1980 Ozzie came from a wax pack recently ripped and posted. Knew it was a 10

The 84 donruss Vance law once went for big bucks. Not sure what the market is now.

The 1981 Donruss could not look finer. Not sure about those.

Boy 1986 is tough!

Of course, all 9s I expected 10s!

    Very strange with the Vance Law card. Could it be possible that last year there were a couple of guys who needed it for The Registry?

    What does the setup look like at the PSA booth? Are the graders visible? Or are they "hidden" underneath a tent of some sort? And do you just drop the cards off and come back later in the day? Thanks

    Surely there has to be someone left who needs a Vance Law really bad!

    Not sure what they are doing at the PSA booth. There are people sitting there.

    Too focused on he task at hand. Had a rough night ripping 1978 and 1980 racks from BBCE. I'll spare you all the lowlights.

    Now contemplating what to do with this...

    The graders are behind a curtained-off area. The line is very long...over an hour wait for some although I'm told it thins out later in the afternoon. Everyone gets one on one help, drops their stuff off, and if you were getting onsite grading done you typically walk around and come back later.

    I personally wouldnt open that box up. Mostly likely youll lose money. Just wait a year and you will even get much more than you would even if you were to sell it off today.

    OK I tried. I so can't leave this stuff closed. I'm going to have to invest in doubloons or Lockheed Martin or something. This I have to open.

    Ripped the SP box. Good box. Not going to post pics because these cards all look the same to me but got 2 Jeters, a Chipper, a Damon and a Manny.

    Really wanted the Jeter because that card is flat-out sweet.

    The advice to keep the 1980 box closed was sage indeed. Had to be the most profoundly miscut box I've ever ripped. Not one card gradeable. All cardsmiscut in the same trapezoidal fashion. Scary to think there are other similar boxes now floating around.

    The SP box was a blast to rip as always. It is just hard to judge these cards though. In 1979 and '80, you at least have a sense whether the card COULD be worth 25k!

    Not into 1975 minis or would have took a plunge. Seems to be a lot out there for such a price tag.

    Flying home now. Gonna rip a few 1981 topps wax boxes and a very special 1978 Rack With Bench on Top!

    2 Jeters in one box is great! Someone is going to be ticked that they don't have any in theirs.

    You've had some nice pulls with your breaks. Good luck on the rest of them. Rip and scan when you can.

    Post some higher res scans of the SP if you get time.

    Definitely will post better scans Ferg. Could use second opinions. Opened another box at the show. Pulled one Jeter. Looked so good I said what the heck and subbed on site. Came cak an 8...

    Don't know how to judge the foils. Just look for scratches and white on the left coner. Other than that no idea.

    Ferg - I do plan on submitting the two Jeters posted above as well. They'll probably 8 too (sigh).
