A question about wrinkles

Im still trying to learn how to get the grades of cards down better and I keep running across cards that are noted as having wrinkles.
Ive got a few of them myself and am wondering what a wrinkle does to the grade of a card? Are all wrinkles treated the same? Is a small light wrinkle treated less harshly than a longer deeper wrinkle?

Just trying to get a handle on how wrinkles are treated in the hobby.

I have found that even the slightest wrinkle automatically knocks the grade down to a PSA 5.

Usually no better than a 5, but a 6 is not unheard of.

As with anything, it depends. A tiny single wrinkle can find a way into a 9 holder. A single, perhaps 1/8 inch wrinkle can bump an otherwise 10 down to an 8. Add in multiple wrinkles and you're looking at a 6. Then sometimes it looks like it's raining them and you'll get a 5.

If you're shooting for 10s, if you see any wrinkle then don't sub the card. >>

Good info all and thanks! I've got a 57 drysdale with a faint wrinkle I was planning on subbing soon. Got me to thinking how PSA would deal with it.
So it appears that severity is taken into consideration. Good info all thanks.

And where can I get some of that wrinkle cream hm

From my experience, I have gotten a PSA 7 on an otherwise Gem Mint 1985 Donruss Roger Clemens. It had a very faint surface wrinkle on the back. I think I resubmitted and got a 7 again.
