My 1992 US Olympic Dream Team autographed project piece added PATRICK EWING!! 11 down, 1 to go :)

I consider the 1992 US Olympic Dream Team to be the greatest assemblage of basketball talent on one team ever. I'm attempting to get the whole team on this piece. Got this one back today from the Michael Jordan Upper Deck Authenticated signing. Turned out great EXCEPT UPS absolutely butchered it on the return trip. I'm filing a claim with UPS for damage. You can't see it from the scan here, BUT they put a crease into the photo through the bottom of the photo up through the Jordan sig and then all the way to the right edge of the photo. Poor, poor, service from UPS. Oh well, no use crying over it, what's done is done but one good thing is that I could see before I opened the package that it was going to be damaged as the package looked like a truck ran over it, so I took plenty of pictures BEFORE I opened it as evidence.

Nevertheless, here's my Dream Team project piece. Down to 3 more to go (Stockton, Ewing, Malone-they are by far the hardest, but if push comes to shove, I've got a friend that works in the NBA that knows them so I've got a chance image He has gotten those 3 for me before on other items that I asked for, but I like to try for myself first if possible )

UDA hologram is on the lower right front, and Bird and Magic signing holograms are on the reverse. Out of the various things I have, this is one of my favorite pieces (once I get over the anger from the crease image )

It's so annoying that the last three guys you need are so hard. The three of them make Jordan look easy. Great piece, Mike.

Once you're done with it, would a professional framer be able to get the creases out?

Man that is gonna be unreal once it's done & framed. Not that it isn't already!
    What are the dimensions?

  • Are the successes that people have through the mail with John Stockton signed by someone else?
  • That is an absolutely wonderful piece. As someone mentioned, there HAS to be a way to get that crease out or look as minimal as possible. They do it for comics and I've also seen some amazing restoration for cards, then I am going to be positive and think that it can also be done for this.

THanks guys. I've got no ideas how to get the crease out. I know on baseball cards, on some of them, you can soak and/or spoon them. That won't work on this I don't think. Oh well, no big deal I guess, as long as UPS compensates me for the damage they did, more disappointing then anything else. I am glad it didn't break the paper, it was very close to breaking the surface, but didn't. 'm not about to throw it out of my collection image In the end, it will frame up decently.

To answer one of the questions above, it's an 8 x 10.

Killer piece! I'm curious, what makes Malone and Stockton so hard? Is it because they just aren't out in public like some of the others?

The last three are tough but I'd say in order of likeliness of getting them, it's Malone, Stockton and then Ewing, easily. I've seen Stockton sign once in my life and Ewing once and Malone a few times but earlier on, Ewing was still very tough. I think the other thing that adds to it now is that they don't do shows.

Woohoo! Special props to Deseret Book Store in Salt Lake City, Utah. John Stockton was doing a book signing there a couple weeks ago. I found out about the signing about a week in advance. I live in Texas and couldn't make it in person due to work and school, but I got hold of their regional manager, and he agreed to help me with my piece image Now down to just 2 more. Patrick Ewing and Karl Malone. I will be adding Ewing on December 17th via a signing with Steiner Sports in New York, and then I'm going to swallow my pride and send it to my friend that works for the Utah Jazz and he will get me Karl Malone to finish it off. I hate to ask him for "favors" in getting graphs, but he hooks me up if I ask on my own personal stuff, and I really want to finish it off, and Malone comes in every now and then to work with their "big men".

Also, have 3 signed books left (pictured below) if anyone wants one for $45 NET to me via paypal. I don't collect them so I'll make them available at a reasonable price.

Stockton and Malone were tough but not impossible in person in the early 1990s, however Stockton would refuse to sign cards. Malone was an OK signer in person early on then got progressively tougher but now I hear he's darn near impossible.

As far as I know neither has been ever gettable (?) through the mail, at least with authentic signatures.

Wow! That is one outstanding piece of autographed art...fully agree that is the best team ever put together. Great item!! Congrats on landing the Stockton. Looks like you will be able to frame it up in early 2014.

Stockton still won't sign cards. At his recent book signings, he will sign one piece of memorabilia with every book purchased if you want, EXCEPT, no trading cards,

I actually work with Stockton's sister. Super-nice lady. It's not at all unusual to see John around town in Spokane. People here leave him alone, he's just a member of the community. I saw him a couple times at Gonzaga Prep games when David was playing quarterback there and he was just another guy in the crowd - nobody bugging him at all. Maybe that's why he's still here.

    Good morning Louie,

I'll respectfully disagree with you. Even though I do wear progressive bifocals, and I do occasionally blunder, I feel secure in what my autograph eyes see in this one image

    Louie,

It did make me smile. When I first read it, I thought to myself WTH did I miss. I got out my magnifier and took a 45th look, and after arriving at the same conclusion again and again, I just chalked it up to you perhaps having had too much Chicago Pizza image

Also, if anyone wants to take up the challenge on their own. I have the little sibling to the above piece available. Back has Larry Bird's hologram and a Hall of Fame Sports (Magic Johnson's signing) hologram attached. Has been signed authentically by 7 members of the historic squad including Bird, Pippen, Magic, Laettner, Drexler, Mullin and David Robinson. $450 NET to me via paypal.

    Size is 8 x 10.

With Stockton having another book signing soon on December 8 or 9 in Spokane (I should have sent it when I sent my main one a couple weeks ago but didn't want to push my luck, LOL) and Ewing signing at Steiner on December 17th, you could make some serious progress towards completing this bad boy. If anyone wants to try it let me know, otherwise, I'll probably work on 2 myself.

    Mike

Lol sorry about having you get the magnifier out. That deep dish pizza is one of the good things up here. That's awesome you're getting Ewing, I hear he's not that easy. Are you going to have him & The Mailman sign across their jersey? You think silver sharpie would work or go with all black?

Just got a text photo of my piece from the Patrick Ewing Steiner signing. WOOHOO!!!!! 11 down, 1 to go. I should have this back in hand by early next week and will post a better pic at that time, but right now I'm pretty stoked. This piece is going to be INSANE and my best autograph project piece yet.
