Ripped 3 1981 Topps FB Vending FB , 2 1989 UD BB foil boxes, 2 1993 Topps Finest. 2 2001 Bowman

In light of the great pack breaks, here are a few box break results.

In the (3) 1981 Topps FB vending: 1 Joe Montana that would grade a PSA 4, every main star was OC.
In the (2) 1989 Upper Deck BB Foil: 3 Randy Johnson's that may grade PSA 9.
In the (2) 1993 Finest Foil: Minor player refractors
In the (2) 2001 Bowman BB Foil: All of it stuck together

A disaster all around.....

  • No Griffey in the 89?

I recently busted a finest box as well. You only care about one pack with the refractor so a really unexciting break. Mine was a bonds but miscut. Seems to me the refactors sit in the same location each box.

I busted a 2001 BB recently and found it to be very enjoyable. The cards stuck together but were easy to separate and undamaged. Pulled a M Cabrera x-fractor.

One Montana in 3 vending boxes? Wow, that's either bad luck or searched boxes.

As far as the 1993 Finest Refractors go, if the commons happen to be Orestes Destrade and looks to be a gem, I would submit it. This, along with the Bernie Williams, are the toughest of the refractors to get in high grade. Until recently when one finally popped, there were no PSA 10 Orestes Destrade Refractors.
  • I'm a little frazzled by the 1981 Topps boxes but with 500 cards in a 528 card set, I suppose it's possible. I pulled the bad Montana in the first box and decided to go with the next to see if I had better results with the condition. I didn't think it could get worse. When I started with the Upper Deck, I didn't think I could lose. So in my about 5 boxes in 24 years, I've pulled 0 Griffey's.....The Bowman was the base Bowman issue....I bought them on discount and I should have known better. The price was too good to be true. The Finest were both Jay Buhner and yes, the refractor were in the same place. I still will be putting together a base set, so I'm ok with that.

How dare you call Jay Buhner a common, here is someone that disagrees:

They kept saying Ken Phelps, Ken Phelps!

Ugh, sorry to hear those results. It's stories like these that keep me from buying a box of 89 UD. Griffey was the ultimate pull back then and I'd like to do it...............but it isn't worth 3 or 4 boxes for that dream.
    Currently collecting PSA graded:

    1991 & 1992 Fleer Pro Visions
    1952 Topps

You should do alright with the Buhner refractors - it is perceived to be a short run card.

Though I and others believe that all of the "SP"s in 1993 Finest Refractors are due to poor distribution or hoarding.

In that vein it was interesting to hear you got 2 Buhners. (poor distribution)
Always looking for 1993-1999 Baseball Finest Refractors and1994 Football Finest Refractors.
