It seems to me my friend Aethelred's . . .

ajaanajaan Posts: 17,116 ✭✭✭✭✭
eBay handle is no longer in use. It was aethelred.ii well perhaps we can come up with a new eBay handle for him. I could suggest the plain:

aethelbore

but that's not very original. I've been calling him that for over 10 years. Any suggestions from the crew here?

Aha. Now that I own your Aethelred signature coin, I kinda figgered you were going with the WNC Coins thing. I tried "wnc_coins" and "wnc-coins" and "wnccoins" and "MichaelIsATwerpWhoEatsBoogersAndLikesCollectingNASCARStuffAndGoldPlatedColorizedStateQuarterBeanieBabyBears", but none of those seemed to work.

I should have guessed "BeanieBabyBears" was spelled with a "z" at the end.

    "Duh", indeed.

Hey, Shroomie, didn't Aethelbore used to call you "Bingo Greentoes" or somethin'?

That's more creative than your name for him.

"Aethelbore"? Really? Is that the best you could come up with?

    That's so... um... boring.

Ha. If you were the one who coined "lordminivan", that gets better marks.

Though I was Lord Maxivan (not to be confused with Maxi Pad) until gas got expensive and I gave the conversion van to my son. Thereafter I WAS "lordminivan" for a while, but that blew an engine, so now I am "lordpickuptruck".

And you don't have any room to talk.

Last time I visited Aethelbore, I saw YOUR van in the Denny's parking lot in Black Mountain, NC.

The Little Prince was named the generic "George" and not "Aethelred".

    Oh. THAT.

Must admit, that one flew over my head, as I have been blissfully unaware of the news lately and have been either here or in a book or a history podcast instead of the major media outlets. I can only take so much from them.

"King of Ancients." Sounds kind of 1980's car-salesman-y. I just picture Aethelred "slashing foes...and prices...like the kings of old" or something corny.

Agreed. This kind of banter was why I came to the Darkside in 2005. But, I think that everything fell apart once PCGS got rid of the Non-coin banter forum, whatever that was called at the time. I can't seem to remember the name of it. image

Don, Thank you! I personally feel when that was taken away that a bunch of the main characters left the forums. The forums were sanitized of the real characters on this forum after that.

it HAS been Tumbleweed City around here lately, hasn't it.

Ahh, yes. The old days. Gas was under a buck and a half a gallon. Bullion was cheap.

I still had my teeth and didn't need glasses.

I remember a BST deal in my second or third year wherein I purchased a gorgeous 1908 No Motto US St. Gaudens $20 gold piece, in a fresh PCGS MS63 slab, for four hundred bucks. Now? Sheesh.
