Bo Master Calculator

I made this little spreadsheet to simulate adding various cards to my set. Wanted to see what it would take to get into the top 10. Feel free to use it if you're interested. This particular one only work for the Bo Jackson Master FB/BB set, however, it could be easily adapted to any other set.

You just punch in the grades of the cards you have (the spreadsheet is pre-populated with mine, you'll need to delete if you don't have them). Then add in cards you are considering purchasing for an updated GPA and set rating.

Incidentally, I need (16) more cards with a 1 weighting in PSA 10 to be ranked in 10th.

  • This is really creative. Do you work in data processing?

Well, I have a background in data entry/desktop processing from high school, took some college courses and personal study for computer programming and worked as a desktop support analyst for several years. I left that career behind a long time ago, however. I'm currently work in a call center, managing a group of ~65-70 agents and 5 supervisors. As you can tell, I like making trackers - LOL!

  • Can't you do this right on the PSA website using the What If? feature?

Doh! Didn't know such a thing existed...

Yeah there is a "What If" feature right on the PSA site lol.
    What I Collect:

PSA HOF Baseball Postwar Rookies Set Registry- (Currently 80.51% Complete)

PSA Pro Football HOF Rookie Players Set Registry- (Currently 19.80% Complete)

PSA Basketball HOF Players Rookies Set Registry- (Currently 6.02% Complete)

Ok, found what you're talking about. That would work for the most part. The only potential issue with the "What If?" tool that I can see is you can't pretend what it would be like if you got a grade that isn't already in population. Say the highest graded example of a card is PSA 7, you can't pretend what it would be like if you POPed a 10. In this one aspect, my spreadsheet is superior.

  • Solid point.

Updated this file, added Star cards that are new on the registry and corrected the weighted average formula.

  • Never used the registry but always wondered does a rare card factor in more than a condition rare card? For example, would adding a Donruss Aqueous PSA6 where only three are graded in total have more of an impact of adding a 1987 Classic Green PSA10 where there are many of that card in existance but only a handful in that condition.

Condition sensitivity doesn't always highly affect the card's value in the set. The #15 MLB is weighted only at a two, however, the '86 Topps Tiffany is rated at a 6. The highest weighted cards are 1993 Finest Refractor (10), 1990 Donruss Preview (7) and 1987 Auburn Tigers Football (7). We're awaiting the 1988 ACE Raiders Fact Pack card to be added to the registry right now, expecting it to be ranking up near the top if not another 10 weighted card.
