8-ish? Sub or not? -- Grades In.

These all look close to 8-ish to me, but am waffling about each for the next submission.

Which are 8's? Thanks.

I'd send them all in. That Ozzie looks really sharp.

    What they said.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

Very nice cards Mike. If it were my sub I'd hold back Mayo Smith.

    Hi Mike,

If it were me, I'd sub the Maas, Carey, & maybe the Ryan. Hope that helps.

Is a 79 Ryan in an 8 worth sending in?

  • Of the '56s, I would say the Maas and the Carey are worth sending in.

I would also send the Ozzie in and hope for an 8. I wouldn't sub the Ryan.

Nice grades on the 50's-60's, the 77's are tough, I had a similar set of grades on some I sent it, 8's seem to be the norm. That's pretty quick poppage, what service level did you send them in at?

    Appreciate today-

    Bill

It was the special pricing at the National -- two and a half weeks to log, pretty quick pop thereafter.

I thought the 77's were a little nicer - and thought the 79 commons at the end would have a few 10's. The 77 Royster is a toughie though...

  • Nice grades on the 56's, my favorite year! Plus a 8 total day turnaround, you had a great sub all aroundimage

    Pretty happy, Doug.

Missed a few '56 clunkers, and not sure about the "trimmed" 71's, but overall pretty pleased.

My favorite is the '73 Rose - will post a scan when I get it back - three smooth edges and one really rough cut. Thought it would go anywhere from PSA 4 to 8 depending on how they treated the roughie - sent it in as sort of an experiment.

If Carey is an 8.5 (not saying it isn't), then Maas is a 9.

Very nice bunch of 56s you stumbled on Mike. image

Nice cards, Mike! Where did those 56T come from (This year's national show)? Are any for sale?

Thanks guys - a nice raw lot on ebay was the source of the 56's. Looked pretty strong in the one picture that was provided.

Here is that rough-cut Rose I mentioned - really thought it could go anywhere from 4 to 8. A disappointing Mays, and the best of the 56's...
