GRADE POPPED Thoughts on possible grade on Jordan RC? Maybe a 9?

I need some help from you grading experts. This Jordan has no surface flaws that I noticed at all. Just wondering if the centering would allow me a 9? or what are your thoughts?
The white dots or fuzz is from my scanner, it sucks.

Are those top two corners touched? And is that chipping on the right hand side?
  • Top two corners are not touched at all. They are very sharp. The scan is deceiving.
The only chipping is on the right side blue section near the bottom of the blue.
I wish I had a better scanner to more accurately depict the look of this card.

I think it will really not be possible to tell from this scan. The card may be very strong in hand but from the scan it doesn't look mint to me.

Scan it with the lid up and lights off in room. Current scan an 8 at best probably a 7.5.
  • 7.5 - 8 at best

you're already in good shape. anytime our members downgrade a good looking card, it winds up in a 10 holder. image

i think "maybe a 9?" is a good starting point. only one way to find out.

I'm going to say solid 8, but I hope you do better.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

If corners are as clean as you say (and scan doesn't make that clear on the top 2), then easy 9.
Looking for rare Randy Moss rookies and autos, as well as '97 PMG Red Football cards for my set.
  • We will find out soon. Just sent it out to be graded. Crossing fingers!

All depends on the grader. That's a sorry answer I know, but the best I've got. Looking at it, and looking at my Drexler(which is a 9 and al I can compare to 86/87 wise) I'd say yes, easy 9.

^^^this, and the centering looks great on the front. How is the back?

    Thanks,

  • Centering on back is just about as good as on the front.

I'll stick with easy 9 then image
  • Well the grade just popped....You guys scared me away from PSA with your opinions so I sent it to BGS hahaha . They gave it a BGS 9 with all subgrades 9.
Eventually I will try to cross it to PSA.

Nothing to complain about there. I still think it gets a 9 from PSA image

No need to cross. The BGS is preferable to the PSA.

PSA 9s sell for more than BGS 9s..

People keep saying that BGS dominats the modern market.
But I look at key examples like the 1993 SP Derek Jeter BGS 9 and I then see PSA 9s selling for as much as BGS 9.5s.
Same with the jordan. PSA 10s Sell for 2.5x what BGS 9.5s sell for.
And there are many more examples.

No chance in Hades that card gets a 9 in a PSA holder. Looks like a 7 to me.

Successful transactions with: thedutymon, tsalems1, davidpuddy, probstein123, lodibrewfan, gododgersfan, dialj, jwgators, copperjj, larryp, hookem, boopotts, crimsontider, rogermnj, swartz1, Counselor

Always buying Bobby Cox inserts. PM me.
  • I agree with your assessment based on the picture. The picture is a bad example of what the card really looks like. I wish I had one of the scanners some of you have on here.

Let me guess, you work in Public Relations for Beckett Grading? Only reason I can think of for this comment. Anything pre-1995 will almost always fetch much higher from PSA. BGS 9 Jordan vs. PSA 9 Jordan not even close

To the OP, you would have had a much better chance for a PSA 9 if you had sent it in raw. Now that BGS slabbed it a 9, PSA will never give it to you. It's the kiss of death.
