ANA Chicago

Anyone planning to attend the Chicago show? Would be great to meet some of you.

What are your thoughts on this show vs others, historically, for darkside finds?

Cheers,

Pat

The summer ANA show generally has great attendance from world coin dealers. Most who set up at either NYINC or CICF also set up at the summer ANA. For example, at the Philly show last year, I saw my usual haunts: Baldwin's, CNG, Kapaan & Mades, etc.

LOVE Chicago, love ANA shows, but not going this year. New baby at home and I've already reached my travel quota with the wife image

Here's the list of dealers who are coming: Money.org

This is always a massive show with all of the big and small names represented, including a nice number of international dealers. Many dealers might be going but not setting up tables, so it's probably worth reaching out to anyone you don't see on the list to see if they're making the trip anyway.

Agreed, excellent point. I feel that way about any show but especially big ones like this. Many people making deals without tables. Recently I did a deal at the "food court" area in-between sandwich bites with the dealer-attendee sitting next to me (I sold to him). You should approach anyone and everyone.

I'll be there at table 1032.

Aki will miss it, but he is looking forward to attending the next ANA convention in NYC, whenever that may be.

That's a shame. But I understand. I was just thinking last night that I may need a brief intermission myself.

I don't know if you're talking about the coins or the expenses, but it doesn't matter. You should go anyway. You don't have to buy any coins to have a good time and learn something, public transportation will get you to within a few blocks of the show, and you can bag a lunch.

I concur with Andy as I often go to NYINC or Baltimore/Philly shows and buy nothing at all. Good conversations (ok, gossip too!), lots of coins, generally a "pump up" atmosphere....
But of course always the off-chance that you find that certain bit you've been looking for...

Seems like a wonderful show - I may attend. Would love to talk to Baldwins and a few others.
  • Good reports all around then! I'm looking forward to it.

I'll make it a point to stop by your table, Andy.

  • I will be there. I went last year there were some great buys in the cheap seats. Guess some dealers wanted to get table rent by slashing prices. I saw many dealers from new york that don't go to CICF. I have 2 Days planned.

This is the reason I usually go. Despite not finding coins for my primary collection, I occasionally find something for the secondary or tertiary collection! And books!

I look forward to going as well and hoping to meet some other members. I think I am going to unfortunately go on Saturday. I was really hoping to go on Thursday or Friday during the day to avoid public insanity on Saturday but alas, my daughter starts school on Tuesday of that week.
