Several hundred great transactions with over 100 different forum members.
1831 large cent NGC AU58 $255 SOLD
Good detail and nice problem free original surfaces, but lacking in gloss or luster. Probably a legit AU55.
An EAC dealer would likely crack it and give it a nice brushing - but some like folks like them just like this.
One of the things that drew me to middle date large cents was being able to find nice coins like this for a reasonable price.
1837 No Stars Half Dime $175 Old small ANACS holder, EF 40. Large date, I believe. Legit XF detail, with original, medium grayish surfaces with some
hints of blue and gold. The reverse is light gray, with traces of gold luster around the letters. SOLD
1866 Shield nickel PCGS AU55 $215 Extremely well struck, with ALL horizontal shield lines sharp. Light rub, but the luster is muted
under very light original skin, which likely kept it out of a 58 holder.
1936S Merc Dime, PCGS MS66 $75 - Not full bands, but close. Nice light colorful toning on both sides, with plenty of luster. SOLD
1939 Merc Dime, PCGS Proof 65 $220 Solid white coin, no haze or toning, has some cameo contrast, and looks a tad undergraded to me.
1843 seated half, NTC XF45 $105 A 'third world' holder to be sure, but the coin is a legit XF40, nice and original medium, with copious die breaks on both the obverse and reverse. SOLD
1917D Obv NGC AU58 $400 An all-white coin, for those that prefer this look. Dipped, but not scrubbed or hairlined, with plenty of original luster left. This is not one of those coveted 'AU64' coins, as this coin has subtle but obvious rub. Still, the bust is fully rounded, and the eagle's central neck feathers are all there. At least a 55+ coin.
1919S walker, older NGC VF25. $355 Purchased from David Lawrence ~18 years ago. I'm as tough as anyone on walkers, and this coin
is a VF30 in my opinion, with the rev more like a 35, and absolutely stone cold original. I don't care what the sheet says, this coin has much more appeal than the dipped XF's that bring >2x this price in auction.
