Does 4 sharp increase prices before sales?

I was looking on their website and some cards that I've looked at before seem to be priced higher then before the current sale (from what I remember anyway). Do they increase prices specifically for their sales? Just wondering if anyone noticed or if I'm just crazy.

I should note that I like 4sc for the most part.

Sometimes they adjust their prices in response to current market prices, but I have never seen them increase their prices just prior to putting them on sale.
  • I buy from them often. I haven't noticed them raising prices before sales.
I mostly buy baseball cards from the 70's.
When they have multiple cards in the same grade of the same player, if one sells, the next one they list, they raise the price.
It seems there business model is if it sold, we didn't price it high enough.

When new items are added to the 4SC inventory, prices are high, and sometimes very high. Once an item is added, its non-sale
price won't go up. Periodically, maybe one a month, prices will be reduced, though maybe by only by a small amount.

There are a bunch of card prices that I'm monitoring. When the price is better, I'll buy, assuming someone else doesn't buy first.

4SC has a different sale each week.

There were 4 cards I was "watching" before the sale and the prices didn't change once the sale started. So, the sample size of about .0000045% of their inventory says "no".

I have many, many, many cards that I watch from them and their prices do not change for their Nolan Ryan cards prior to a sale. I have seen them sell one card and when they have another to list, they list it at a slightly higher price, but I've never seen them raise the price on a card already listed.

I buy a lot of cheaper cards from them, what I see them do is start at a price say 9.99 and then after a certain time the card gets reduced. The longer it stays the further it drops. Card will bottom out at 4.99 or 5.99 they seem to have a bottom price based on year/grade. So if I grab that card at 4.99 and they have another copy of the same card it will re-list that day or the next and start over at the 9.99. Now that being, I have seen them randomly raise a card by a buck or two. I have notes on all the Browns/Indians cards I can use that they have. Once a month I check the prices and remove cards that have sold...and sometimes it will have gone up. I don't see it very often, and not directly before a sale.
