My Recent Bo Jackson Purchases

Here are a bunch of Bo Jackson cards I recently purchased from various sources. Many are ungraded so I'll need to send them off before I can see what I've really got.

The ones I'm most excited about are:

1986 Time Out Memphis Chicks
This is the entire set, with Bo in the laid back photo commonly seen on the Gold card.


1991 Kansas City Police
This is the entire set in the original envelope, reportedly given away at the Royals game on 4/14/1991 before 350,000 cards were burned after Bo got dropped by the Royals.

Just curious. Is the Memphis Chicks card hard to find? Here is the one I got. Picked it up only because it was signed.

Got this earlier this year when I got to ride in the Bo Bikes Bama ride for the Alabama tornado victims relief.
He was super nice and very gracious. I have always been a Bo fan.

The cards are out there but there are only 33 PSA graded examples, 11 in PSA 10, 13 in PSA 9. And there are 3 different images, but no distinction by PSA of which is which so it's hard to tell how many of each image. I've heard 15,000 produced combined gold and silver versions of the card.

I found another article on SI Vault with more info on the 1991 Kansas City Life Insurance/Police Bo Jackson Card. It seems to indicate there were 10,000 released before the remaining 350,000 burned. So, there should be some sets out there...

By the Kansas City Police Department, 350,000 Bo Jackson baseball cards. The cards were part of a police-supported antidrug campaign, and about 10,000 of them were distributed to kids shortly after the Royals released Jackson. Last week the remaining cards were torched at the same local steel factory that the police department uses to incinerate contraband guns. Said Royals executive Mike Behymer of the Bo card, which is now worth $15, "We didn't want to see hundreds of Bo Jackson cards in collectors' shops or on the black market."
