Drove 362.3 Miles. "Found NO Mercury Dimes" !!

Just got back from the PNNA Show in Seattle. Decent Show and Viewed some Very Nice Coins but Absolutely No Mercury Dimes. A Couple of the Dealers that I have done business with were Singing the Blues about Finding Fresh Material. One Dealer that does Mostly Mail Order said He Could Not believe the Amount of New Collectors that have Entered the Hobby in the Last 2 Years.
Just after getting into the Show a Dealer Spotted My NGC Box and Asked if the Contents were For Sale. He wanted to Look so I told Him to Have at it. After Going through the Box He said I want to Buy Them All at Gray Sheet Bid. Told Him The Contents was My Trading Material and if I Did Not Find what I was after I would Be back. Well as Usual walked the Floor about Three times to make sure nothing was Missed and then went Back and Sold him Everything Except the 2 Coins that are in My Registry Set. True to His Word He gave Very Close to Gray Sheet Prices. This IMO was Very Fair as most of the Material was NGC Slabbed.
By the Way if any one is a Barber Quarter Collector this Dealer has One Very Cool Barber. Sort of Rare I think. It is a 1901S in a PCGS MS63 Slab. Cost was Only $24,500.00. I have no idea if this is what they are worth but it was the Nicest One I have Ever Seen.
Cant Report on other Series at the Show because I am so Focused on Merc's that I hardly Ever Look at anything else. Floor seemed Quite Busy to Me. Quite a Few People but do not know if they were Just Lookers or Legitmate Buyers. Heard No Grumblings from Dealers so things must have been going smoothly for them also.
Will Get First Crack at Some fresh Merc's if a Dealer I know Gets Them into his Possession. Heard it is a Complete Set that Grades MS60 and Up with Many of the Mid Twenties Coins going 63/64 and with Full Bands. Hope He is not Feeding Me a Line of BS.image
Finally!!! By selling the Merc's that I did My NGC Set is Decimated at this Point.image Probably will Delete it as I Do Not think it is Right to Only have PCGS Coins on the NGC Registry. Good thihg though is I have the BUCKS now to Come up with the PCGS 25D and 27D that I need for the PCGS Registry.image
All in All a Nice Show and Got to Talk to some People I have not Seen for a Year. Only One Drawback !!! I Came Home Empty Handed.image

Spent Part of it Already Tonight. Just waiting for Heritage to Confirm My Purchase of the 25D MS63FB Coin they had.image Also have a Email to Broward County for His 27D MS63FB Coin.image
Actually I still have a Few NGC Coins. A Dealer from Seattle is taking 2 of them to Long Beach for NGC to Review for UGLY Toning. One is a 27D and the Other is the 29S MS67 Coin. Just Could Not let those go without seeing if NGC could Help them out. Oh !!! Also Kept the 30S that I have it is Going to be Cracked and Submitted to Guess Who for Grading.image
Hey Do Me a Favor. Jump over to the Whitlow Site and look at the 27P and 28P Mercs in 66FB that have Color and let Me know what You think. Seems the Price is Really High to Me.

Nice going moving those Mercuries at Grey Sheet bid!! Strong money I think, especially because the dealer needs to make something on the purchase. image Wondercoin

It was Close to Gray Sheet Bid. The Dealer was a Guy I have Never dealt with but have seen before. His Dis-enchantment with the Spreads between PCGS and NGC Mercs in the Blue Sheet was real Apparent to Me. He Checked the Spread on a Couple of the Coins but Still went back to the Gray Sheet. Also 3 or 4 of the Coins were for sure PQ examples for the Grade.
He was Out of Spokane, Washington and I will not Hesitate to Deal with Him again both Selling and Buying. A down to Earth plain Good Dealer.
                            1. Ken,
got my own coin pic now...I think I have this figured out, now I can get more pics to play with......I really want a pic of my 29P...it will knock your socks off. this is the first one I will resend one day for upgrade......after they get to a happy medium with the grading...lol

OK, Now I feel better, its my 29.(icon).WOW what a coin....if only all of them were like this...image

                              Ken,

The 01-S (along with the 13-S) are the keys to the Barber quarter series. Either is the equivalent of a 16-D Merc. The 01-S has a mintage of about 73,000 and the 13-S has one about 40,000.
