Interesting Poppage.

Been kind of busy traveling recently and haven't had a lot of time to check in.

Well, had some nice little poppage this morning:

21489419 GEM MINT 10 1977 TOPPS 650 NOLAN RYAN Card (self explanatory)
21489421 GEM MINT 10 1977 TOPPS 652 TOM WALKER Card (Pop 2 card - now Pop 3 I think)

Haven't had a chance to go through all of them yet These two stuck out, though.

Had a nice batch of 1977's that I submitted, along with some modern rookies for my PC.

Great hit, Justin! Still pales to the Henderson, but what wouldn't?!!!

The Ryan was a raw pickup see: Link

Indeed, photos when I get them back.

The other 1977's came from two rack packs that I busted recently.

ah. looks like Mr. Nuts nailed it.
  • Unreal that a seller would have a potentially 3K card and sell it raw for 20 bucks.

These are the sellers us grading freaks look for; bless their hearts.
Without these old school guys who hate to grade or don't believe in them, there wouldn't
    be newly found treasures.

Justin, did the seller have any graded cards in his showcase?

Thanks for all the kind words, everyone.

I wanted to get to your responses sooner, but have been driving for the past 5 hours. I'm the IT Director for my company and we're in the process of merging with another company...so I'm overseeing the convergence of everything IT with all of the offices and data/voice...rather arduous to say the least.

@BBG - 1979 Ryan came back a 9. It was submitted a few months ago and I believe I already sold that off. In the end I just wasn't happy enough with the rear centering. The front was amazing on that card, though.
@Bryan - Yes he sure did. He's actually pretty knowledgeable about grading. I may have bought this from him before he had a real good chance to look at it. Or maybe he thought it didn't have a chance. Either way, it was a small oversight on his part.
@Jeff - thanks for the VCP data. Any data on the Walker? Not sure what I'll need to be asking for on that one as I don't typically deal with '77s.

The Ryan I'm going to keep for awhile. It's one of my favorite Ryan cards as a Halo. I should get the cards back by Saturday (that's when I'll be home anyway). Once I do, I'll post scans of them in their holders. Maybe include a few more 10s from the sub, there were quite a few.

  • It sure is interesting. Someone seems to bs getting 10's on star cards. What is your secret?

Can you post the scan of the Ryan in the holder once you have it? Thanks

This sub was on a 45-day special (actually went 52 days).

I have another sub in right now that has some very nice 1975s. That is on day 42 now.

    11/19/07 eBay = $82.00
    12/15/06 eBay = $34.00

Those are some old prices so I wouldn't put a BIN on it that low.
