I actually bid on a couple of those auctions, but they quickly got too rich for my blood. Out of curiousity, why do you suspect they may be opened/searched? Is it because he didn't take any pictures of the back of the packs? Some of the boxes he's selling are cello... from what I understand, those are really difficult to search through.
Surprised at how high these boxes are going for. If anyone here wants a 1980 Topps super cello box for just $700, please feel free to pm me.

I think what will be interesting is to see the closing prices of these auctions.
A rising market eventually brings out supply if it exists.
This could easily be a guy who has sat on sealed packs for a long time and is deciding to cash in.
The raging bull market in unopened packs is not going to stop because of one small seller but it will be interesting to see over the coming months if more collectors decide it is time to take the money and run.

Well, one of the packs has this guy named Rickey Henderson on top..

If those 8 and 17 feedback bidders are legit (I have no idea either way), then they are helping this seller out quite a bit with the frequent and early bidding. At the end of they day the final high bid will take the items, but as a seller, you gotta love the frequent bidders.

This is 18% higher then the last boxes he sold and I believe he generally ships for less then $15 per wax box so if that is the case it is closer to 20%.

Actually, I believe shipping was $18 for the BBCE box I bought.
There was some crazy bidding patterns going on in these auctions, including several bid retractions, so I'm not quite ready to base new pricing on these results.

You obviously can't use one sample as a guarantee of a price floor but dealers track these selling prices and if they up their prices 10% right now I would suspect the product gets sold. There is high investment demand right now for unopened and that money wants to get put to work even if the prices are not opportune for buying.
The next few months are definitely going to be interesting to watch.
Pricing right now on 1982 Topps baseball wax boxes has been averaging about $165 a box of late for clean non-X-out boxes. I'd say that $180 was a good price for Steve's boxes as they were coming from a sealed case and weren't X-out boxes, either. $212 is definitely higher than mean right now, and more a result of the curious bidding pattern than anything else, imo.

I am just a by stander and certainly not the expert on wax prices but what do you find as a curious bidding pattern here?
I see three bidders above $200.
There are plenty of card auctions that go for more then the trend from time to time on EBAY.
Since BBCX sells items on EBAY they obviously save the fees when they sell direct on their website so that has to be taken into consideration to I think.
