My 1st Review Submission Results

Last month, I renewed my Collectors Club membership, and having no raw cards or crossovers to submit to PSA at that time, I hesitantly decided to prepare a 15-card review submission that consisted of all '52 Bowman PSA 8's. Results from my past crossover submissions, along with Board comments and general feelings about reviews, certainly had me second-guessing this decision, but I must say I was pleasantly surprised by the results, not because of any gain in value but rather due to the fairness of the grading. Out of the 15 cards, I had one card bump to an 8.5 and, most surprisingly, three cards go up a full grade. While some may not consider those bumps a worthwhile endeavor (from a % standpoint or otherwise), I feel that PSA conservatively and genuinely "re-graded" the cards without bias, something that I didn't really expect from a review. If anything, I expected a few 8.5's, because of the perceived bias in the process. I can honestly say that the best cards of the bunch, with perhaps the exception of a single card, were properly bumped up, in my own opinion. Below are the highlights from the submission:

NEAR MINT-MINT+ 8.5 1952 BOWMAN 38 WHITEY LOCKMAN Card
MINT 9 1952 BOWMAN 75 GEORGE KELL Card
MINT 9 1952 BOWMAN 106 RANDY GUMPERT Card
MINT 9 1952 BOWMAN 139 JERRY PRIDDY

Strangely enough, three of the above cards all had their days on the Board, for different reasons. Nonetheless, I am pretty excited to see these cards in the "proper" holders, and for the time being, I am a proponent of reviews.

Nice work. Congrats. I've only sent in a couple and have gone hitless thus far. So your percentage is much higher than my own.

Thank you. The 15 cards I submitted were the best of all my 8's, and PSA was definitely conservative on the bumps. That said, I'm pretty happy they at least recognized the superior cards for what they are this time around.

Sent in about 20 and yet to get one. Makes me hesitant to send in more. Congrats for you though!

Again, thank you to all...And I forgot to mention one interesting little fact...

All three cards that got bumped the full grade were in holders with newer flips. The lone 1/2 grade bump had the old flip (that, from various posts on the Board, collectors tend to focus on when submitting reviews). Read into it what you may.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
