EBay etiquette, who leaves feedback first?
![MrNearMint](https://us.v-cdn.net/6027503/uploads/userpics/226/n08QQMTYBC29C.jpg)
For the most part, after I buy an item I get a positive feedback from the seller but I recently bought a card (last week) and have received the card but no feedback. I really don't want to leave positive feedback to not have them leave it back for me and I'm thinking this would be the case since the item was late to be shipped
eceived without explanation or communication from seller. And I'm not sure if it's proper etiquette to ask for them to leave positive feedback.

If I am the seller, I leave feedback immediately after being paid for purchase, thanking them for the sale. I ship same day or next day at worse and add tracking at that time.
As a seller, immediately upon receipt of funds and I never dwell on reciprocation. I learned long ago that if you spend an inordinate amount of time waiting for every soul to handle his/her obligations properly, you'll invariably shave years off of your life.

<< <i>If I am the buyer, then I leave feedback once I get the item (but ONLY if they left it for me). If I am the seller, I always leave feedback but I usually include a little note that asks to "please leave feedback" along with the item I'm mailing out. If I don't get it, I don't hound them. Either they do or they don't. Lots of other more important things in life to worry about. >>

+2 except I don't ask for feedback at all.
Not that I think there is anything wrong with a seller, after they have left feedback for the buyer, to ask them to do the same once they have received their item and had a chance to inspect it.
Honestly, I'm just to the point now where I have more than enough feedback on my eBay accounts, so there isn't any point in my asking for more.
Snorto~
AS BUYER: I leave for the seller at some point after the item is received. I always do leave feedback but sometimes it's a while before I get around to it.
Unless there's some sort of problem, at this point in my EBay life I rarely even notice whether or not the other party left feedback. If they want to, cool. If they don't, also cool.

Buyer: As soon as they leave feedback.
901 Feedback Score. 100% positive.
I believe it is up to the seller to leave feedback first.

Agreed.
Also, why worry about feedback at all?
Aren't we all on ebay to add to our collections or to sell off your doubles?
So isn't buying/selling really about buying/selling. Ebay is the only one
who cares about feedback. They want buyers to drill sellers DSR's ratings down
so ebay won't have to pay out any discounts to sellers that qualify for them.
Ebay put that little perk in(discounted final value fee's for some sellers), after they raised the
final value fees a few years ago.
Ebay knows sellers will just have to take it in the shorts when a transaction goes
sideways because sellers can't complain about deadbeat buyers or leave neg. feedback
to warn other sellers about these deadbeats.
Don't fall for ebay's game. Buyers should really just refrain from leaving any feedback.
If you got your item in good shape, just move on to your next deal.

Same here. It is the best way to go
As a seller, one time a week I leave feedbacks for everything I sold that week. Usually I sell 25 to 50 items in a week, so it's just easier to do it all at once.

Neither can I, Mike!! I just handle my end of the transaction to the best of my ability and call it a day.

I understand this mindset but it's exactly this reasoning that led to Ebay blocking sellers from leaving negative feedback.
If EVERYONE followed the same rule, there would be no issues. Feedback should be left when the portion of the transaction that each party is responsible for has been completed (or not in the case when NEGATIVE feedback should be left). Buyer pays, seller leaves feedback. Seller delivers item, buyer leaves feedback. If any side is waiting for the other before leaving feedback, they are in the wrong. If the buyer pays and receives feedback, but has an issue when the item is delivered, it is the seller's responsibility to correct the issue. Feedback should never be used for extortion or for leverage.
But then again, we don't live in a perfect world and some here will create a scenario where they are justified withholding feedback or waiting to issue feedback. Because as we all know, eBay is nothing but scammers . . . (that's sarcasm, BTW).
if I sell I leave pos feedback when payment arrives.
As a buyer I leave feedback every 2 weeks or so. Most of the time its for multiple items won

As a buyer I leave feedback when I receive the item.
My only issue with buyer's not leaving feedback is I like to know when they receive the item. If they sent an email saying - got the item, happy with it and did not leave feedback that would be fine with me.
<< <i>I just leave feedback once a month or so. I hate getting emails from people asking for feedback, especially when its a buyer. No one cares about your feedback as a buyer. And most of the time its someone with 700+ feedback already. I could understand if it was a guy just starting out. But once you reach 500, feedback doesn't really matter as long as you don't have negatives. >>
Same here. I hate the emails asking for feedback. I usually always leave it but on my own time and I am active on ebay.
