Has anybody tried the new international shipping option on Ebay?

I had a request from someone from Canada to buy a $73 card. I changed my shipping options on that one item to do the new international shipping option where I ship to a US hub. It looks like I get seller protection that way.

Can someone confirm this? If that is true, I am thinking about changing all of my listings. It only cost me $1.69 to ship. Also, does the buyer have to pick of the shipping cost from the hub to their address in Canada?

I just found the answer to one of my questions.

On Ebay, it says - How sellers are protected

Although you're responsible for getting the package safely to the US shipping center, you won't be charged if the item is damaged or lost during international shipping.

You're also covered by PayPal Seller Protection, so you get the same protection for your international sales that you get within the US.

If a buyer opens an eBay Buyer Protection case and the international shipping provider is found to be at fault, the case will not count toward your seller performance.

    = = =

Now, I am wondering if anybody has used it. Has it worked well for everyone?

I do not suggest using it.

When it first came out I started including the international shipping option in my listings. A man from Canada won one of my cards (less than $30 IIRC) and the shipping was around $24. The buyer was upset the shipping cost was so high and we had to cancel the transaction.

I haven't had any problems with int'l shipping to Canada. They're all scanned now and shows delivered (no longer delivered abroad).
This is all through first class int'l shipping with the E-Delcon service. Just print it out like you normally. $6.91 first class for 1 slabbed card in bubble mailer.
The custom's number is your tracking #.

This is what it looks like. You can type in that number and it will show this.

Here's another one of mine, and quite fast I must say. I also wanted to say that you can check the same custom's # through canadapost.com as a secondary backup and it will show step by step status as well
in case the buyer is a big fat liar.

  • I haven't used it but my friend who sells a lot of vintage clothing has stopped because of it upsetting his overseas customers. This service is great for the seller but not so much for the buyer.

I love the new International shipping with the tracking!
I opened up all my items for shipping to Canada. I would never do it in the past because it was so expensive for tracking.
The new rates with tracking are much lower!
