Can anyone recommend a few good modern world coin dealers?

I have a collection I started some years ago which I never took very seriously. It is a 1979 (my birth year) dated OFEC collection with some relatively demanding criteria for inclusion. When I started this collection it took a back seat to my main collecting interest, U.S. coins by type. The idea was that while I was scouting out and saving up for type coins I could entertain myself with an inexpensive and "easy" pursuit.

This collection has become my main numismatic interest and it is now the only collection that I actively buy coins for. As I read more and more about it (and increasingly found myself priced out of the U.S. type coin market at the level of quality I desired) I realized that OFEC sets are basically infinitely customizable and offer a way to collect that is as unique as the person collecting the coins wants the collection to be.

I spent quite a while running down standard coins in the standard places (mostly ebay), but I've come to the point that the coins which I need, while still relatively inexpensive, are not very easy to find. If any of you know of a dealer or two, preferably with decent websites, that could help me out I'd love to hear about them.

    What is OFEC?
I manage money. I earn money. I save money .
I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.

OFEC = one from each country. ie a coin from each country, in this case, that minted one dated 1979. One needn't tie it to a specific year however, and it can be for a century or even forever if you're especially ambitious.

Are you looking for graded coins?
  • I will buy graded coins when necessary, but I prefer to buy raw (with a few exceptions) as I want to "make my own."

  • Coins I definitely know that I want to buy pre=slabbed include 1979 China 35 Yuan (my set will include all 1979 dated Year of the Child issues) and other coins of similar value - unless, of course, I get the opportunity to examine and buy them in person.

Send me your Want List and I'll see what I have.

My main set is basically a OFEC set, with a bevy of custom parameters as you described. I am often trying to unload the coins which do not meet my stipulations. I don't have the 35 Yuan but I may have others you seek. I also have a short list of reputable "world" dealers here in GA that might be able to help you.
