ID Help Please Possible Thai 2 Baht

I am normally on the sports card side, but have been lurking in coins for a while. I recently bought a small coin collection and got this coin. It is about 38mm. Can anyone help with the composition or value?

Thanks a ton - Jim

    Yes. Thailand.

What confuses me is the note that says 16 stars means one baht, while that note is listed under a two- baht coin. image

Very commonly counterfeited coin in Thailand. Does it look and sound, when dropped, like silver?

B.T.W. cool forum name. Love the movie.

Thanks for the great info, guys. This one sounds like a silver dollar when dropped, but it weighs 29.5g. Looks like it is a dud.

I need to pick up a reference for non-US coins. Any suggestions?

I would think 29.5g is a reasonable weight for this coin.

I have a copy of the Krause Standard Catalog of World Coins. This is the 19th Century Volume which covers coins dated 1801-1900.

It's the 4th Edition from 2004. It has 1,280 pages, paperback, with over 27,500 actual-size illustrations.

It is noticeably used with some curling to the front cover and first pages, but otherwise fine.

    It's a mistake, each star represents a fuang, 8 fuangs = 1 baht.
