25 Years Ago Today in Orioles History

On June 25th 1988, Cal Ripken Jr. played in his 1,000th consecutive game on his way to surpassing Lou Gehrig's then record 2130 games. Unfortunately the Orioles lost to Red Sox that day 10-3 (as they did often that season), although Cal did hit a HR in the first inning off Bruce Hurst.

I though I'd share the homeplate umpire's card from that afternoon:

    yep; Ironically when I purchased this lineup card out of a SCD ad back in 1995, the seller was simply selling it as a Frank Robinson signed item (seller was unaware of it's significance otherwise).

    Thats probably the nicest Frank Robinson signature that I have ever seen.
