Weird eBay transaction

I purchased something with free shipping,it was here for delivery yesterday but me nor my wife was here, inside the mailbox is a peach form telling me I owe $10.70 shipping? Huh? The item I purchased had free shipping. Is this my fault or the sellers? I sent a message to the seller but has yet to respond. I'm confused. Did they forget to put postage on it and dropped it In a mailbox?

They didn't forget, they just didn't put enough on it. We get a lot of ebay packages that don't have enough or else the sender used priority packaging and paid for non-priority. Some claim "media mail" when it is not.

Message the sender and tell them what happened. They should paypal you the difference. If you don't pay it and pick it up then it gets returned to them as postage due the same amount.

DON'T tell them that if they don't pay you will leave a negative. If you threaten a negative I believe they can have it removed.

Thanks for that info ill keep that in mind. I've yet to hear back from the seller so ill see what happens
