New high on CME group, owner of CBOT

The collapse in precious metals has not hurt their primary commodities exchange. The CME group
common stock made a new high today, up over 50% for the year.

Correct, I only pointed out the CME stock performance because there were a lot of comments when gold first broke down in April
that somehow the commodity exchanges were in trouble or going to fail. It made no sense then and obviously the
commodity exchange business is doing very well.

There were numerous comments about margin calls, speculators wiped out, etc, and I pointed out
that the CBOT (division of CME) protects itself by closely monitoring the NET positions of its member firms.

Volumes in interest rate products are going through the roof because big institutions are rushing to hedge interest rate risk. That's why the stock has been going up. Metals trading is a small small part of CME.
